hoping for a better day

Off to a better start today. At 8:45 at least. No toilet clogging, no experimenting with shower products. #1 and The Spark are off at soccer and gymnastics camps respectively. Princess Eee is building with blocks while whimpering about not wanting to go to school tomorrow. She knows she messed up there yesterday, and there is remorse. That is very good news when parenting a kid who has undergone the trauma and loss that she has. So it's sad to hear her whimper about not going to school "ever, ever, ever," but it is a relief to know that she truly feels badly about cutting another child's hair.

On another note, The Spark had a wonderful "double sleepover" last week with her BFF who has moved almost two hours away. BFF's awesome mom sent this pic of the two girls ice skating on a hot summer day. The Spark is really getting the hang of it now. We went on Sunday with the four youngers and The Spark was cruising around the rink without holding on to anything. It feels SO good to zoom around on the ice when it's hot and sticky outside. When I start having hot flashes (hopefully not before another decade or two!) this is where you can find me. I will buy a season's pass to the indoor ice rink.
